I saw a very cool folding eBike while at the New York Toy Fair! The bike folds to about the size of an airplane carry-on. https://amzn.to/2Pm8h1U Please click SHOW MORE!
This mini-folding-bike looks like a perfect solution for "last-mile’. It could be kept in an electric car so that you can just zip over to wherever you are actually going compared to where you park your car to charge.
Would also be fantastic for city-dwellers who need a bike that can go in a bus, on a subway, etc. Would also be perfect for college campuses.
It DOES have small tires and no suspension, so I’m sure the ride is smoother in a carpeted hallway than on a bumpy street!
One of the salespeople also told me that they did a photoshoot with the bike in an Audi etron. There’s a spot in the back of that car that’s PERFECT for the folded up bike, where you just always leave it stashed.
If I had a Tesla, I’d love to have one of these kept inside.
The steering was a little different, in that the handle-bars don’t actually rotate. Instead, the the frame is hinged just a little back from the handlebars. Combine that with a short wheelbase and that my only test ride was zipping down a busy aisle at a trade-show, means that the steering is probably just fine at speed, but probably takes a few minutes to get used to.
Not having operable pedals minimizes the size and weight (only 17 pounds) and eliminates the chain for easy folding. Instead, there are simple foot-pegs. You just push off and then twist the throttle to go.
36V/5.7AH Removable Lithium battery, 15 mph speed, 10-15 mile range, USB charger, headlight, tail-tight/brake-light.
Won a couple of awards at this year’s CES.
