The Tractor Junkyard - Farmall 300 Frame Rails

Through a Craigslist ad, I found some tractors that might have interchangeable part with mine. I headed there to dig through parts!

It appears that the Farmall 300 is essentially a "sister tractor" to the International Harvester 300 Utility. Similar time period and engine size, but the Farmall has a frame from the transmission to the front axle. Would these rails also fit my International 300 Utility?
I took my engine plate with to check for compatibility.

There were several tractors there, and after searching around, I found a set of frame rails already loose. Those matched up just fine with my engine plate, and thus by transmission bell-housing!

I talked with the seller a bit about my project. He’s pretty well versed in all these tractors and also actively farmed. He said that I definitely DO want the clutch, for keeping the PTO and motive power serparate. It’s especially useful for things like operating a loader.

The loose pair of frame rails is from a little larger tractor. (Farmall 460, I think!) It uses the same size transmission, but a larger and longer engine. Because of that, the frame rails aren’t straight. They bend out about an inch on each side.

The seller suggested I just take these rails to try them out. If they didn’t fit, I could bring them back and we would remove the rails from the Farmall 300.

I ended up driving home with that set of rails and will try them out with my tractor.
