Cover version of the original track by Kraftwerk, written by Ralf HΓΌtter & Florian Schneider, and released on the 1974 album Kraftwerk album Autobahn.

In 2023, I recorded two cover versions of tracks from the seminal Kraftwerk album, Autobahn. The first was Kometenmelodie 2. Over Christmas 2023, I decided to challenge myself by recording the whole of the title track, which spans the whole of the first side on the original album.

Having recorded both these, it only seemed right to finish the job and do versions of the remaining three tracks.

In this case, Mitternacht (or "Midnight" in English).

I wanted to record an arrangement which varied slightly from the original, using different sounds.

For this track, the original incorporated sounds created by synths and electric violin approximating bats, wolves, and apparent industrial sounds, so in the spirit of this project, I incorporated real recordings of these.

Recorded in Cubase, triggering multiple VST instrument plug-ins.
Drips recorded in my utility room sink with a cup.
