As the higher-end Galaxy model, Evelo’s Galaxy Lux comes outfitted with some remarkable technology that really earns the bike its name. In the forefront is the Enviolo Automatiq, an adjustable automatic shifting system that almost entirely removes the need for user input. We discuss the bike’s upgrades, standard features, and performance in our review of the Evelo Galaxy Lux.
The Lux shares much with its little sister the SL, including classic beach cruiser styling and a Dapu 500W mid-drive motor that gives the bike the feel of a more traditional non-electric bicycle. The mid-drive has plenty of power to handle hills and responsive acceleration in higher assistance levels.
Also like the SL, the Lux features an Enviolo continuously variable transmission (CVT) which offers incredible flexibility in pedal resistance. Instead of a chain, the Lux uses a belt drive that, in combination with the fully enclosed CVT, makes for a maintenance-light machine.
The Lux is geared towards accessibility. Its frame maintains the Galaxy’s low step-thru height and maneuverability, and is even about a pound lighter than the SL!
