In "The question to Gazelle" our Gazelle experts deal with questions you have about bikes and electric bikes.
This time we got a question from Marc. Marc often cycles on his electric bike but doesn’t really know what his range is. Our Gazelle product expert Erik explains this to us.

What is the range of my electric bike?
The range is actually the distance you can cycle with the support of the E-bike motor.
The battery in the E-bike supplies power to the motor. The motor in turn provides support when pedalling.
How far you can cycle depends on the capacity in the battery. If you cycle short distances and especially in the city, a battery with a smaller capacity will do.
If you cycle longer distances and are going for a nice tour, a larger battery capacity is very important.
Increase the range of your electric bike?
You can do a lot to keep the range as large as possible. Like inflating tyres. In addition, the support level you drive on is also an important factor. If you go up a hill, you can ride with good support, but you will notice that the range gets shorter. A battery doesn’t like the cold much either, which means there will be less capacity in the battery. Another important factor is how heavy your bike ends up, because you can take a lot with you on the bike, but it does affect your capacity. And of course, when you go cycling, make sure that your battery is fully charged.
