At Royal Dutch Gazelle quality is paramount. That’s why we test our bikes continuously in our test lab, where we can carry out over 20 different tests. Our test bikes ride over 500,000 cobbles so our roller conveyor runs day and night. And because bikes ride over uneven surfaces, we let our bikes vibrate for days.
In twenty days, we simulate two years of changeable weather with a salt spray test. This way, we can ensure that our bikes can withstand all weather conditions without rusting. To ensure a Gazelle bike is robust and able to withstand a few knocks, we carry out impact tests. Such as dropping a 22.5 kg weight onto the frame and front fork combination from different heights.
We test colours through long exposure to UV light. We simulate sunlight to ensure that our bikes won’t lose their colour. And on our own test track, we simulate to see if our bikes can handle everyday traffic: cobbles, sudden braking and sharp turns.
We also monitor the quality of the production process. Apart from checking all bikes for critical points, we randomly inspect 7.5% of all bikes down to the smallest screw. We are only satisfied when absolutely everything is right. Because only a perfect bike deserves the name Gazelle.
