From the orientalist fantasies of the 1920s to the orientalist fantasies of the 2020s!
Harry Warren and Mort Dixon’s 1928 hit, Nagasaki, rearranged and featuring the original lyrics in the first part and my own lyrical additions in the second part to give a century’s contrast in innuendo!
Recorded in Cubase using VSTis. Drums are the Alesis Crimson 2 electronic kit triggering Superior Drummer 3 samples and there are sundry other virtual instruments, with all other parts performed on keyboard.
Originally recorded in 1928 by the Ipana Troubadours, but this arrangement is inspired by the Pasadena Roof Orchestra’s recording of the song, which I’ve long loved.
